Our little one...

How did she go from this.......
 To this.......
 To THIS.....

How is it possible that 12 months have already flown by with this little girl?! National Cheesecake Day went by (our favorite excuse to go to the Cheesecake Factory....not that we need an excuse)  and I realized wow....this day 1 year ago we were at Cheesecake Factory and our friends teased me it was my last meal before having the baby.....it really was! I was in labor for a week before I actually had her. I was having consistent 7 min apart contractions for a few days that were not being productive. We went to the doctors 3 times thinking I was in labor....but then at 3 am on the 31st of July my water broke...it was a relief to know that we were finally making a trip to the hospital knowing we'd leave with our new baby girl. We have such wonderful friends that came over in the middle of the night to watch the boys that night. Aww, reminiscing is so fun. Anyhow....a few hours later Katy Joy was born into the world! Here are a few fun things about Katy at 12 months old.

*28 inches and 17lbs 10oz
*Crawling still, took her first step on her birthday, as of today the furthest she has gone is 3 steps
*Will at least try anything we put in front of her
*She still eats baby food- loves sweet potato and anything, doesn't like fruity things too much
*Loves to eat part of my banana in the morning, loves eating a diced up apple, or plum, doesn't care for strawberries too much
*LOVES crackers she can feed to herself, graham crackers, animal crackers, rice crackers, wheat thins, you name the cracker, she likes it
*Is still learning the ropes of a sippy cup, but is getting better each day, she will drink water from a sippy cup, but really could care less for milk...only mommy's milk for this girl
*She says- "mama", "dada" (first word), and other babble sounds
*As of today has 5 teeth- 3 top, 2 bottom
*Can put herself to sleep, takes 2 naps a day, but still wakes up 2-4 times a night insisting on mommy
*Loves playing with her brothers, loves getting into their Legos, being chased by them around the apt., loves playing peek-a-boo
*Some of the toys she plays with are her picnic basket, tea pot, play food, stacking rings and cups, books, the kitchen cabinets, and any of her brother's toys
*ANYTIME she hears music she starts dancing (bouncing side to side or up and down), and anytime it's "churchy" music she starts waving her arm as if leading it (definitely MY daughter)
*If someone is bugging her (usually Jacob) she lets them know by screaming at them
*If she starts getting upset with someone for keeping her from something (usually Jacob) she shows her angry side by gritting her teeth and pulling on them or squeezing them really hard
*She has the most infectious giggle, and lately has the biggest cheesiest smile showing all her teeth (as you can see from the picture above)
*She loves to climb up and down the chaise lounge, and giggles while doing it because she knows she's not supposed to

And now that she is a big 1 year old now, she has stepped up and begun helping with chores...

Laundry
 Dishes
She even helps with a few of my phone calls

You always hear moms and dads say this, but I really can't imagine life without our precious little girl. She is growing up so quickly, before I know it I'll be joining her at church YW girls camp, swatting away the boys, and hopefully going shopping and getting mani-pedi's with her. I can't wait to see what kind of girl she becomes and can only pray that I can teach her to always remember she is a Daughter of our Heavenly Father no matter what trials and temptations are thrown her way.

We love you baby girl and love having you as part of our family!
