We had a fabulous Independence day this year! It was our first 4th of July ever that we stayed home since we were married. I convinced jack that we should have a party at our house this year, and what fun we had! We invited a few of our friends and family over for yummy food, fun and fireworks. We had everything that represents summer :burger sliders, fresh corn on the cob, potato salad, pasta salad, spinach artichoke dip, berry trifle, cherry's, chips, root beer, lemonade, and cookie pops. After dinner we ventured outside, had to put sweaters on (that was a little wierd), and played around with some fireworks we bought from one of 50 firework stands within a 5 mile radius of our house.
Once it finally got dark we had the most amazing view of the entire city and all the fireworks being lit. There were fireworks shooting into the sky about every inch of the skyline view, into the wee hours of the night, it was amazing. After sitting on the front porch listening to patriotic tunes, including Neil Diamond's "Coming to America", we went to the backyard to watch the Ralston aka. "Independence City" firworks. Tyler had so much fun staying up late, playing with his glowstick, and watching the fireworks. He still asks many nights a week if its time for them again. We are thankful to live in such an amazing country and proud to be Americans.
