Sheesh am I behind on updating this thing! Can you blame me though? It has been a whirlwind the past 2-3 weeks for us and will continue to be for a few more weeks I am sure. Here's what we've been up to.....
Jack took Tyler to his very first baseball game, the Omaha Royals minor league game. He had the time of his life! They sat on the second row right above the visitors dugout. Tyler surprisingly lasted 7 innings. They sat near a few guys who enjoyed heckling the visitor team, which made it even more fun for Jack and Tyler. Oh, and it was dollar beer and soda night...so that doubled the enjoyment for Jack. NO, not because he was drinking the beer, but because everyone around him was. Someone even offered to buy him a cold one because "Since he had to put up with them, they might as well treat him to a beer" He politely declined the offer. They came home with a lot of loot from the game. The guys around them gave Tyler two balls they had caught, they caught a foam ball from the scantily dressed teenage girls entertaining the crowd, and Jack thought it was only appropriate to buy Tyler his first "#1" finger, and a bag of peanuts. When they came home that night Tyler was grinning from ear to ear until he went to bed. He had so much fun with his daddy, and his daddy had an equal amount of fun I'm sure. (A couple days after the game I was trying to get Jacob to try something new and kept saying "One bite Jacob, one bite". Tyler all of a sudden jumped from his chair and ran to another room, he ran out with his #1 finger and pointed it at Jacob with a huge grin and said "One bite Jacob, one bite!"- what a comedian we have.)
We closed on our new home on the 28th of May (pictures to come), and started moving in that afternoon. We had to be out of our apartment by the 31st. We are so grateful to have so many friends here that were willing to help us out in so many ways, from watching the kids, playing (ie. distracting) with the kids, helping move stuff, and helping clean the apartment. Thank you, thank you ,thank you! We really appreciate having family and friends to support us and help us when we need it.
The week before we moved in Jacob burned his left hand pretty bad. He had second degree burns on his first three fingers and top half of the palm of his hand. We were at the Chiropractors and they have a waterfall feature in the corner that has a display light on it (or at least had one ha ha). Jack was holding Jacob and went to show him the waterfall and sure enough, Curious GGeorge got the best of him and he reached out and grabbed the light, and wouldn't let go for a few seconds. It blistered up almost immediately and the blisters kept getting bigger for another couple hours (see picture below). He cried for about an hour straight, I did too because I couldn't do anything to help take away his pain. We let it go through the healing process for a few days then took him to the doctor. The doctor prescribed some burn cream and wrapped his hand up in a ton of gauze...it looked MUCH worse than it really was, he got a lot of sympathy "awww's" when we were out and about (after the blisters "deflated" his fingers looked like beef jerky, it was so sad to see, I know it's not something you feel like picturing, but as I always say...for family history sake). It didn't seem to bother him at all after the first 2 hours of the burn, which was comforting to us. We just had the hard task of keeping it clean (that is no easy task with a one year old who at the time was still crawling on the floor, and loves to be messy with his food).
Jack's work had their yearly Spring outing at the Papio Fun Park. Tyler was so excited to ride the Go Karts again. He kept saying "woo-hoo" "wa ha" like they do in Mario Kart, it was pretty funny he thought that's what you were supposed to do. We love being part of a smaller group of Raytheon here because we are able to get to know the other people better. 150 on site here in Omaha versus the 12,000+ on site in Tucson...it's a little more intimate here, wouldn't you say?

Poor Jacob! Burns are tough injuries to deal with - especially w/kids...Congrats on the house!
Ouch! Glad poor jacob is doing ok. And (as I've told you) I'm glad you guys are in your house, even though we'll miss you in our ward. But really, you're just down the street! Come hang out anytime! Personally, I just think we need to adopt your street into our ward...you're way too close to our boundaries, why not?!:)
Poor Jacob! (I feel like I'm talking about my son Jacob!) ;)
I can only imagine how awful that was for him -and you. No fun at all.
Glad your hubby and Tyler had fun at the game! Tyler is so cute!!
Oh I miss seeing you (on Sunday) already. Guess we need to plan your belated birthday night out. How's the house coming along?
Poor little Jacob! That must have really hurt. I am glad he is doing o.k. I am excited to hear you are in your new home! I can't wait to see pictures.
