Vacation...Finally!

Over the holiday weekend we drove up to Rapid City, SD to visit my younger brother Jonathan (I was about to say little brother, but he's not so little anymore and has grown up quite a bit). This was the first time we had seen each other in 3 1/2 years, and his first time meeting his nephews. We had a lot of fun visiting him and his girlfriend Christy. We left early in the morning friday and drove all day. The kids did suprisingly well with the long drive, especially since Jacob despises his carseat most of the time. We thought Tyler would want to just watch cartoons/movies the whole time but he really had no interest, he seemed to like to just watch the scenery go by....corn, corn, and...well, more corn. "Look Ty, there's some tractors! and corn! and...corn!...oh, and a cow! and..uh...corn!"

Once we got to Rapid City we met Jonathan and Christy at Pactola Lake and cooked some hotdogs and smores over a fire. Tyler's first campfire, he was very good around it...whew. He kept saying he was afraid the trees were going to fall though...I'm not sure why he keeps saying that about trees lately. We stayed at a hotel with an indoor waterpark, so on saturday we just played there all day. Tyler was a bit scared most of the time, but when we left he wanted to go back. He was very content to just sit on the side of the pool and watch and wave to people. (Funny, I'm a people watcher too) The next day we went to Mt. Rushmore. Pretty cool! Tyler decided it was fun to wave and say "Hi Guys!" to them. It was smaller than we though it'd be, but still pretty cool. Later that day we went to the Journey Museum, where Christy works. It has cool exhibits about the history of South Dakota, like rocks, dinosaurs, the Lakota indians and many other things. It reminded me how much I enjoyed looking at indian stuff!

We had fun and were glad to be able to visit "uncle" all weekend. Thanks for showing us around! Here's a ton of pictures from our trip! (Sorry, I don't know how to put them side by side, so it's gonna be a long post) Enjoy!

When Jonathan put his head in this Tyler was genuinely concerned for him "Uh, uh, no! no! Out uncle!"

Have you ever seen a Ladies side saddle? (That's what I'm sitting on in this picture) I haven't, until now! I actually didn't know they had saddles specifically made for that, pretty nifty!

Now, this was a first for us....Can someone please tell me where in the world this truck was headed? And what in the world pork plasma is used for??? eeeew...
